Two more swords down, these are redesigns of existing swords and I was tasked to remake the handle design. Since it’s just a remake there was no need for measurements, which is a shame because I find adding the measurements really improve the illustration presentation. I have some more sword work on the way and in between I’ve been enjoying myself with some creature work and photoshop painting of a soldier, I’ll post the creatures soon enough, nothings better then more Daedonas material yay. I also got major kudos from the Cartographers Guild for displaying my work along side two amazing cartographers on the front page and that has me itching to do another map, I’ve been trying to show my map work to Wizards of the Coast but I haven’t been able to find any contact info, I think it’s one of those don’t call us we’ll call you situation. Doing some maps for them would be extra awesome.
Anyway till next time!

Hi everybody, in between sword work (I’m going to post a set of two new ones and a bunch of concepts soon) I redrew a Daedonas race, the Braymun.
When it comes to developing my world I like to really sketch out the character, the homes, and the expressions of the race. Before I go on and on about the history, physical traits and all that good stuff that helps bring it to life. So I’d like to actually draw more about him, today I’m posting a preview, and later on I’ll detail all about this bambi/human race.
The sketch is all pencil but the scanning butchered it a bit; my girlfriend had this scanner, it was old, looked like crap and was slow as hell but nothing I have ever come across did such a good job of picking up all the details and keeping a beautiful contrast, as if all I did was stick the paper to my screen. Now it has died and I’m stuck with this more expensive scanner that doesn’t do anything for me. poo.
Well enjoy!

Hi here’s what I’ve been up to, a four sword series of illustrations I did for Darksword Armory, I’ve been working on these for a month along with the concepts for some others and the revised guards/handles for some existing swords they’ve done. I suppose I’ll be posting more swords then anything for a little while as I have a lot more illustrations to do after these four and I’m really considering to have my payment in sword form instead of money. It would be very cool to have a massive sword on my wall that I designed from scratch (these four were based off rough sketches from the armory, but some in the future will be from scratch) and when the inevitable post-apocalyptic horde of zombie’s take over I’ll have my weapon of choice.
Also this week I’ve been approached by this french website leGrog to display my biography since I worked on an RPG game, White Wolf’s Exalted. This french website’s aim is to catalogue all RPG games and the people who worked on them. Being Quebecois, my french should be good enough to write my own biography, but it’s not, my writing is equaled to a kid with a learning disability. So they translated what I wrote and hopefully it turned out half intelligent –> bio

So there it is. My cousin Dan did a pretty fine job, he changed and improved a few things here and there and my uncle is really happy with it.
A freelance update, I’m still working on the sword illustrations and I’ll be dumping a huge load of them here when I’m finished atleast one series. It’s been fun hard work and I can’t wait to see the swords actually forged…I’m still thinking about getting a sword instead of money, I’m pretty sure weapon payment is much more awesome than cheques.

Illustrating tattoos are a tricky thing, especially for people you’re going to see more then once in the future.
I usually don’t design tattoos, I once did one for my sister and have been asked by others to do the same but overall I don’t like doing it. Maybe it’s the fact that a mistake stays forever. The reason I don’t have any myself is that I get tired of my work quickly and if it was on me I’d be bored and would want to improve it within four days.
But this is a demon and demon drawing = fun. So I did it, I’m proud of it and I hope the tattoo artist cousin of mine does a good job. I’ll be sure to post a photo of it on my uncle’s arm in June when I see him. Anyway here it is. Also, it’s based off a tattoo photo my uncle sent me so the position and idea is a redrawn version of that original.

Anyone looking for a tattoo — don’t use this one, it’s exclusive and remember tattoos can always be forcibly removed

Hey everybody, here’s a bit of Daedonas lore, the drawings were done a little while ago and I had just forgotten to post them. The Thurains are a three part species and here’s the first part the lowly working class. So I’ve been illustrating a big demon tattoo for my uncle that I’ll post when he get’s it done by my cousin…or his cousin which makes him my uncle’s cousin and I have no idea what that is title wise…twice removed or something? I’m related to him and he’s suppose to be a kick ass tattoo artist, I’ve never met him so I don’t know if that’s true or some healthy family boasting. I also got my 3rd freelance job from DarkSword Armory and it’s basically a concept artist’s dream job, paid to design as many weapons as I want and be as creative as I want (must be actually useable..so no Buster Swords) so soon enough I’ll be posting some swords, sheathes, axes…fun etc.
These decapod bred worker/warriors, the Ha’Rud are loyal to the Queen council without question and without choice. Living as the lowly third caste in the Thurian society they toil endlessly for the Queendom’s far reaching empire.
Standing at seven feet, the Ha’Rud have tough leather-like skin, a strong enlarged arm and three sturdy legs to support their bulk. A very unique feature of the Thurian Ha’Rud are their four nodes on the top of the their skull, these organs work as psychic receptors for the control of the Queens and the Ha’Thoon, which overrides the personal will of the workers. Unless overwatched by the Queens or their better – the Ha’Thoon, the Ha-Rud can control themselves freely. While most never know this luxury, the rare few who do keep themselves far away from any of their kin. For if ever they come in proximity to their once masters, their freedom and self awareness would be once again lost. While the Queens can live hundreds of years, the Ha-Rud live short lives of thirty years, and even then most do not live that long as their harsh and unforgiving lifestyle leads to certain death.

Here is some more concept sketches to the stalker and a fun monster painting I did last week. I’ve been trying really hard to move away from creatures and monsters, but they keep sucking me back in. I’ll post what I’ve been attempting with character busts later on, been trying to develope a level of emotion in the faces, which has always been a weak point of my characters and I hope these little excercises might do something for me.

Prowling the dark recesses of the Cityspire the Facestalkers tirelessly hunt their victims using their loved ones against them. In the quest for market dominance the Geneseer’s gave birth to these faceless monstrosities to further their schemes, assassinate any opposition and route out all rebellion. The Facestalker’s vile reputation is in it’s means of hunting; beheading a fresh kill with it’s forearm blades, and placing the head into it’s mouth cavity the creature can then use the newly acquired victims memories and lure it’s true quarry. Crying and calling out with the voice of the newly dead and following memories to the target’s location the Facestalker truly is a psychological horror. Anyone forced to battle must look into the eyes of their dead loved ones and fight through the pleading calls of pain.

Been too long since a submit…again. Things have been rush rush at work with our game almost out the door and me still rushing in artwork wayyy past last minute, but when I can I’m still concepting for Paradise Lost (the droids) and myself (the girl thing)
The girl monster thing is something I want to concept out fully, views – biology. It’s an idea I got inspiration from when I read the book Veniss by Jeff Vandermeer and for now I’ll let you all guess what a girl’s head is doing there until I sketch out the work (its not eating it and no hints Alexei)
The droids are concepts for an enemy in the Paradise Lost game… another thing I can’t give away any hints about, this time I think the reason is legal. Overall I’m not too happy with them, maybe I’ll redo them maybe I’ll move on to a better render since they’re preliminary anyway.
till next time!
Terry

Happy Holidays everybody, my mini-vacation is over and I got a chance to do some art. With the joy of Christmas in my heart I painted an emancipated troglodyte degenerated human. It’s my first finished illustration in a while, I’ve been doing a lot of easy sketches lately and working on one painting was a nice change. There will be more story later on for this cheerful individual when I get some concepts about him and his people done.

Sometimes you just have to draw fish…and then get bored and start drawing evil-looking crustaceans, octopi and humanoid fish/frog things. Anyway here’s some stuff I did a little while back, nothing too new. I’m still on the Paradise Lost illustration, it’s going pretty slow since it’s not my thing, but I’m still going at it.

– Update –
Well, I can’t seem to sit idly by and post Daedonas creatures without telling backstories.
Saikreen – A deep dwelling solitary hunter that preys on almost all large aquatic creatures off the coasts north of Forest Cairnus. ( ref. The Crescent Lands ) Although it is classified as a squid, the Saikreen propels itself much like a nautilus, using a powerful siphuncles on the top of it’s body to siphon the water and uses the sphincters on its underside for jet propulsion to maneuver quickly. At a maximum length of six feet including tentacles the Snareskeen is by far not the largest of underwater beasts, but it’s characteristic natural weapons make up for that fact greatly. With six writhing stalks ending in sharp barbs the Saikreen can retract and launch them at any larger target using strong muscle spasms. Once embedded the barbs are extremely difficult to remove and the Saikreen can feast on the much larger sea creatures parasitically for days until it’s hunger is sated.
Tadivol – Although these creatures have an intelligence as basic as the marsh dwelling Mou’yyp ( ref. Mou’yyp ) they are a peaceful amphibian race who excel as hunters and in times of need have been allies to the Grungi. Leading them to underwater air filled caverns for safety during war and gathering deep exotic resources from the ocean floors. Living a nomadic life the Tadivol travel near the coasts of the Crescent Lands feasting on the fish and crustaceans of the North and South depending on season. The life cycle of the Tadivol is a treacherous journey, during mating season they will swim up the rivers to the Illiak Lakelands to breed, leaving the eggs among the many dangerous and predatory creatures of the lakes. Once hatched from their muddy burrows the young Tadivols are born much different then their aquatic forebears, with thickset legs and a short tail they crawl and walk in the high grasses of the marshes. Keeping distance from the Mou’yyp they eat and grow, and as their legs atrophy and shrink their tails grow long and powerful until they are strong enough to eventually to swim out to sea and reach their kin.
Na’Ghauls – Scavengers and marauders of the deep, these nocturnal fish creatures prey on all matter of beasts and People by the coasts. Preferring the warm waters above the Southern Crescent Arm they are the bane of all fisherfolk and are the naturally enemies of the Tadivol, attacking them on sight. Although sentient, the Na’Ghauls possess only a base savage intelligence, living only to feast and breed. Rising from their depths in the night they creep onto the shores and cliffs, stealing away the young and any easy prey they can lay their clawed hands on. Being able to hold sea water in the hanging bladders around their neck, they can use their gills to breath for hours while still on land, although rarely do they leave their waters for more then a quick raid. Many coastal People guard their villages by night and keep a wary eye for their souless white eyes under the waves.
Cairphian - Living among the teeming hordes of crustaceans in the southern Crescent Arm can breed some of the most deadly efficiant and monstrous horrors of Daedonas. And the Cairphian is by far one of the deadliest, this water-based arachnid is at home in the shallow waters and the sharp cliffs of the Arm. Being able to scale most rock walls, and swim great speeds with it’s soft-skin tail the four to six feet long Cairphian is a top predator and even the most wary fisherfolk have a hard time defending themselves from this beast.
